EVENTS AT THE COMMUNITY TENT (On Canal Street) Saturday 1:00 pm – Krystal Alexis and Jorge Gonzalez – Modern Jazz and Pop Music 3:00 pm – Red Sharpies – Adult Contemporary and Easy Listening Music Night of Metal at The Springs River Festival: Freshly Hatched out of South Floridas death metal terrain, bassist Jason Blachowicz and Gus Rios of Malevolent Creation have launched a new storm of a band along with musician friends from various local bands together to display their talents by spawning MURDER SUICIDE. Unleashing their own brand of old school style death metal, bringing out that ol' late 80's to early 90's vibe with some straight forward, balls to the wall, groovy, heavy, pure head bangin death metal savagely well executed with no remorse achieving punishing results. Prepare yourselves for a glorious ear pounding that'll leave your neck nice and sore. 8:30 pm – The Killing Hours The Killing Hours formed on March 3, 2011 in Miami, Fl. Steven Izquierdo and Yusell Garcia on guitars, Joel Cerda on bass and Micheal Collantes on drums. We are an original metal band bringing a unique mixture of Thrash and Progressive elements. We play heavy, hard, fast and give every ounce of energy everytime we perform on stage. We are in the pursuit of combining each of our unique styles to bring the best material we can to share with the world. 9:30 pm – State of Solitude State of solitude formed in may of 2011 when long time friends from Miami Springs senior high Tony, Gus, and Chris decided they wanted to make music together and collaborate as a unit. Eventually adding Damon and Pablo became a no brainer and have been creating music and entertaining crowds ever since. 10:30 pm to close – Blow Torch S***** (BTS)
Sunday One of the festival’s longest standing traditions, the Dog and Cat show sponsored by Animal General Hospital and Dr. Thomas Campbell, DVM. Dr. Campbell is a great host and MC, so come out and enter your pet, or just enjoy the show.
FESTIVAL INFORMATION: The Springs River Festival is a well-known local annual festival which began in the 1970’s as the Miami River Regatta. The name has changed, but the festival continues to bring together friends and neighbors for family fun and to “catch up”. Run by local volunteers, Springs River Festival, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose proceeds benefit the local community. The festival offers excellent Entertainment on the Festival Stage on the Circle, as well as local talent on stage in the Community Tent. There are activities for the kids, live bands, dancing, drama, comedy, and Dr. Campbell’s Pet Show. The Childrens' World is open throughout all 3 days of the Festival and the ever popular Silent Auction was back again in 2008. The high bidders won some incredible items, including time in an aircraft simulator, private golf lessons and an original framed 2008 Springs River Festival poster. There is always lots of food, fun and games, arts and crafts, the Cake Bake-Off, Chili Showdown, Games and Rides for the kids, Fishing Tournament, and lots more. The 2013 Festival will soon be here! Keep checking back for updated information. Come out and enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of the weekend, catch up with old friends, and meet some new ones. |
