6:00 PM Opening Exercises
Mayor Bain will open the Festival with the Miami Springs and Medley Honor Guard. Sidney Garton will be singing God Bless America and the ribbon will be cut by Betty Dubois and Bob Calvert. Introduction of political officials and Springs River Festival Committee members.

6:30 PM Crystal Chaos
A local cover band with your favorite tunes from the eighties and ninetys to start the Festival weekend off with a bang. This is a new band to our stage this year.

Home Depot Kids Workshops...Free "How to Clinic"
The Home Depot - The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between children and their parents. The child can take their project kits and receive a kid-sized orange apron and an achievement pin. Parent must accompany their children.

Jim Camacho is appearing here again this year to share another facet of his genius with his new CD, Beachfront Defeat. The new album has had great success and received critical acclaim. JimCamacho is Miami’s favorite acoustic performer voted the best in the new times. We are glad to have him back again.

Handsdown the most requested band for the Festival is back. The Regs take the stage with their stadium rock style that knocks your socks off. This is the band that everyone keeps asking all weekend,” Is that band from last year going to be here?” The answer is yes and they are the Regs.

Chili Showdown
The Chili Showdown is bound to be a very competitive event. The double-blind identification judging will take place at 2 PM. Trophies and prizes will be awarded for The Best Tasting Chili, Mr. Chili Pepper & Ms. Hot Sauce Best Costume, Best Decorated Booth and special recognition to the Most Money raised participants. Honorary Member Rick Shaw, on behalf of the MAJIC Children’s Fund, said, “In these perilous times in which we live, it is so very important that we have milestones in our lives. This event has become one of those. It is a day where we can go out with our friends and family, have a good time, disconnect, and enjoy this little paradise we call Miami Springs. All contestants will serve their mouth-watering homemade chili for $1 a cup in portions for sampling to benefit the MAJIC Children’s Fund.

One of the festival's longest standing traditions, the Dog and Cat show sponsored by Animal General Hospital and Dr. Thomas Campbell, DVM. Dr. Campbell is a great host and MC, so come out and enter your pet, or just enjoy the show. The Dog and Cat Show is held at the Community Tent. Click here to download an application.

New to our stage is Electric Piquete. This local Jazz, latin, fusion band is a favorite in the local sceene and we are glad to welcome them to our stage. Here is your Sunday jazz, enjoy.

This talented gentleman and his band has traveled all the way down from central Florida to play our festival. His new CD , recently released, will be the focus of the show. A great sound and heartfelt lyrics are the trademark of Joe’s work. Welcome to our stage Joe. A first time performance at the Festival.

Once again the Mayor’s favorite band will close out the festival. This great band will have you on your feet and dancing. They are the opening band for many mainstream bands and we are always glad that they take time out of their busy schedule to play for us. The perfect close to a great weekend.

FESTIVAL INFORMATION:

The Springs River Festival is a well-known local annual festival which began in the 1970’s as the Miami River Regatta.  The name has changed, but the festival continues to bring together friends and neighbors for family fun and to “catch up”.  Run by local volunteers, Springs River Festival, Inc. is a non-profit  organization whose proceeds benefit the local community.

The festival offers excellent Entertainment on the Festival Stage on the Circle, as well as local talent on stage in the Community Tent.  There are activities for the kids, live bands, dancing, drama, comedy, and Dr. Campbell’s Pet Show. 

The Childrens' World is open throughout all 3 days of the Festival and

The ever popular Silent Auction was back again in 2008. The high bidders won some incredible items, including time in an aircraft simulator, private golf lessons and an original framed 2008 Springs River Festival poster. 

There is always lots of food, fun and games, arts and crafts, the Cake Bake-Off, Chili Showdown, Games and Rides for the kids,  Fishing Tournament, and lots more. 

The 2010 Festival will soon be here! Keep checking back for updated information.   Come out and enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of the weekend, catch up with old friends, and meet some new ones.
